Tiivistelmä
This bachelor’s thesis examines how generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) can be utilized to support incremental innovation. Incremental innovation refers to continuous, small improvements made to existing products, services, or processes. The study was conducted as a literature review, using peer-reviewed academic sources mostly published between 2019 and 2025.
The literature suggests that GenAI is particularly effective in supporting expert work, automating repetitive tasks, enabling iterative product development, and strengthening a culture that encourages learning and continuous improvement. GenAI assists with generating ideas, drafting content, and organizing information, allowing users to focus on more creative and meaningful tasks.
Challenges include the generation of inaccurate content, lack of transparency in how GenAI works, and potential overreliance on AI outputs. Successful application requires clear organizational frameworks, an open culture of experimentation, and critical user thinking.
The thesis concludes that, when integrated thoughtfully and used in ways that fit the context, GenAI can serve as a valuable enabler in incremental innovation.
