Business analytics in private equity investments

Abstract

This thesis will discuss the implementation of Business Analytics to private equity investment, with a focus on Venture Capital investments and Leveraged Buyout investments. First the thesis will present background information about private equity investments with a focus on said VC and LBO investments. The work will also present background information about business analytics and the three segments of analytics the thesis will use, with an added subparagraph about machine learning and deep learning.

The third paragraph will focus on the actual use of business analytics in VC and LBO investments. The paragraph will divide the investment process into two parts, one going over pre-investment activities and the other focusing on post-investment activities. The third paragraph will also focus on the use of business analytics in risk management of investments, and the challenges and limitations for the use of business analytics.

The last paragraph of the thesis will then present my conclusion about the topic, and it will answer the research questions. The paragraph will also present limitations about the research and play with some ideas for possible further research related to the topic.
