Abstract
This paper explores a process of professional learning that started when reading students’ narratives related to the use of multiartistic work including drama, literature, and creative writing with reflections on issues important in their lives. We applied thematic analysis to the students’ narratives to identify their significant learning experiences, key themes, and emotions they uncovered. Each of us reflected on the findings and wrote individual narratives which we shared and explored with a focus on our learning experiences as teacher-researchers. Such narratives-on-narratives (NON) increased our understanding of the importance of the multiartistic work and offered us insights into the students’ current issues and concerns such as personal growth, purpose of education and teacher education, environmental and societal crises, climate change and war. NON showed how creating a safe space opened new perspectives and increased the students’ sense of well being amidst global crises, which requires more attention in higher education.
