Tekoäly tuotekehitysprojekteissa

Abstract

Tässä kandidaatintyössä tutkitaan tekoälyn mahdollisuuksia tuotekehitysprojekteissa. Työn tavoitteena on selvittää, millä eri tavoin tekoälyä voidaan hyödyntää tuotekehitysprojekteissa, erityisesti uusien tuotteiden kehityksessä ja millaista hyötyä teknologian käyttöönotolla voidaan saavuttaa. Lisäksi pyritään selvittämään, millä tavoin ja missä yhteyksissä organisaatiot ovat jo integroineet tekoälyn osaksi tuotekehitystään.

Tutkimus suoritetaan kirjallisuuskatsauksena. Kirjallisuuskatsauksessa selvitetään aluksi tuotteen ja tuotekehitysprojektin määritelmät ja yleisimmin käytetyt rakenteet tuotekehitysprojekteille. Tämän jälkeen määritellään tekoäly sekä tutkitaan kirjallisuudesta löytyneitä esimerkkejä tekoälyn käyttökohteista tuotekehityksessä.

Työssä käytetyn kirjallisuuden perusteella voidaan todeta, että tekoälylle on löydetty jo kymmeniä käyttökohteita tuotekehityksessä. Edelleen voidaan todeta, että tekoälyn käytön on huomattu tehostavan kehitysprojekteja sekä nostavan uusien tuotteiden mahdollisuuksia menestykseen.

Tämä työ pyrkii antamaan peruskäsityksen sekä tekoälystä, tuotekehityksestä, että näiden symbioosista. Työtä voidaan käyttää sekä aihealueeseen tutustuttaessa, että pohjana mahdollisille perusteellisemmille jatkotutkimuksille aiheesta.

This bachelor’s thesis examines the possibilities of artificial intelligence in product development. The objective of the thesis is to research the different ways how artificial intelligence is utilizable in product development projects, with the focus being on new- product development. Furthermore, the thesis will study how organizations have already integrated artificial intelligence as a part of their product development.

The thesis is conducted through a literature review. The literature review first examines the definitions of product, product development and studies the commonly used structures for product development projects. This is being followed by the definitions of artificial intelligence and the examination of the uses of artificial intelligence in product development, as expressed in the used literature.

According to the literature used in the study, it can be said that there are already tens of found uses for artificial intelligence in product development. Moreover, the use of artificial intelligence in product development is noted to enhance both the development projects and the probabilities of a new product finding success in the market.

This thesis is aimed to present a foundation of knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence, product development and the combination of the two. The thesis can be used as an introduction to the field and as a basis for further studies on the matter.
