Tiivistelmä
The fundamental goal of this thesis is to define the key elements of effective data modeling and investigate the obstacles that Granlund faces in product data modeling in their projects, particularly in design and engineering processes. The purpose is to thoroughly understand these difficulties and provide specific solutions to improve Granlund's data modeling capabilities, assuring their competitiveness for data modeling in the architecture, engineering and construction Industry.
A semi-structured interviews were done to achieve these goals by empirical study, The information gathered from these interviews, notably with Paavo Idman, an experienced BIM Development Manager, gave significant insights for this paper analysis. The study highlighted many significant findings, including Granlund's data modeling requires more flexibility, explicit position definitions, and increased teamwork. Integrating several software tools, handling various data formats, and ensuring data consistency are all major problems. To fulfill Finnish requirements, the business must standardize methods, automate data input, and streamline operations. Granlund should prioritize system integration, modern ICT, and ongoing training to improve data management. These actions are essential for retaining a competitive advantage while also enhancing data quality and efficiency.
The outcomes of this thesis have operational implications for Granlund's data modeling management, advising that current technology and transparent onboarding processes be integrated to improve productivity, accuracy, and client satisfaction. Furthermore, the guidelines for centralized data storage, precise data verification systems, and advanced software integration systems apply. These centralized methods are designed to reduce mistakes, improve project execution, improve team cooperation, and keep a competitive advantage in the architectural, Construction, and Engineering industry.
